| Yellow Aster Butte Mount Baker Wilderness c. 1986 Yellow Aster Butte is across the Nooksack river from Mount Baker, a 10,500-foot volcano near the Canadian border in Washington State. This area is about a two hour drive north of Seattle. The photos on this page are from a long ago weekender, taken around 1985 or 1986. So my memories of it have faded. Certain things I do recall. It was a very scenic hike. It was steep. We had one of the best (in terms of view) campsites I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. And the bugs were out in full force, going for every drip of moisture they could find on you: arms, nose, eyes, etc. After searching for other (much better) photos on the web, I've decded this is a hike I'll have to revisit. |
