Glacier Basin area of Mount Rainier National Park

The Glacier Basin trail in Mount Rainier National Park is a short dayhike out of the White River campground in the northeast section of the park. It is a fairly easy trail leading to an early climbers camp which starts off wide, almost like a wide city park path through the lowland forests. Undoubtedly it is a heavily used trail in the summer tourist season. Eventually it climbs its way out of the forest in a few miles and peters out near the treeline beneath the south side of Bourroughs Mountain and the Wedge below Steamboat Prow.

This trail branches off about halfway towards its end. The shorter left branch takes you to a ridge of Mt Ruth and overlooks the immense Emmons glacier. The photos from this trip are along the other branch.
